Porcupine Quill Appliqué

Bi-gaawayikeg! Come do quill embroidery with Petrina Naytahwaush Drum Hall. In this hands-on 2-session workshop, master quiller Petrina shares over four decades of experience in traditional quillwork, a skill passed down through generations of her family. Taught by her mother, Orvilla Longfox, Petrina proudly continues her family’s legacy as a cultural bearer. Participants will learn about processing quills and the zigzag stitch, and will complete a small tobacco pouch. All skill levels welcome. Free to Native American participants. Attendance both days is required. Supplies & light food provided. Limited spots. Register at tinyurl.com/quillapplique.

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
